Data & privacy disclosures
Data Disclosures: Little Doodles
Submission-ready answers for both stores' privacy questionnaires. Little Doodles collects no personal information. The one thing that leaves the device is the app-update check to Expo's EAS Update service, which carries a random installation ID, the OS and app version, and (like any request) an IP address. The answers below disclose that conservatively as a device ID used for app functionality, never linked to a person and never used for tracking.
Why disclose it at all: both stores count data sent to a service provider on your behalf as "collected", even when it is pseudonymous and used only to make the app work. Declaring it is the safe reading for a Kids / Families app; answering "no data collected" while the update check runs is the kind of mismatch reviewers reject.
Key definition (both stores): information that stays only on the user's device and is never sent off the device is not considered "collected" or "shared." Little Doodles' on-device drawings and local high scores therefore do not count as collected data.
1. Apple App Store: "App Privacy"
Summary answer: Data Not Linked to You: Identifiers (Device ID), for App Functionality. (iOS is parked for now; re-check this when an iOS build is on the table.)
In App Store Connect, App Privacy: answer "Yes, we collect data", select only Identifiers: Device ID, purpose App Functionality, not linked to the user, not used for tracking.
| Data type | Collected? | Linked to user? | Used to track? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Contact Info (name, email, phone, address) | No | n/a | n/a |

¹ Drawings are saved only in the app's private on-device storage and are never collected or transmitted, so "User Content" is not collected for App Privacy purposes.
Tracking: The app does not track users (no ATT prompt required; no IDFA use).
2. Google Play: "Data safety"
Summary answer: Collected: Device or other IDs (app functionality). Shared: none.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Does your app collect or share any of the required user data types? | Yes (Device or other IDs, collected only) |
| Is all of the user data collected by your app encrypted in transit? | Yes (the update check is HTTPS) |
| Do you provide a way for users to request that their data is deleted? | No account or request flow is needed: the ID is random, not tied to a person, and is replaced on reinstall; on-device drawings are removed by deleting them in-app or uninstalling |
Data collected: Device or other IDs. Data shared: None (a service provider acting on our behalf is not "sharing" under Play's definition).
| Data category | Collected | Shared | Ephemeral | Required/Optional | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Device or other IDs (EAS Update random installation ID) | Yes | No | No | Required | App functionality (delivering app updates) |
| All other categories: Location, Personal info, Financial info, Messages, Photos/Videos, Audio files, Files/Docs, Calendar, Contacts, App activity, Web history, App info & performance | No | No | n/a | n/a | n/a |
Notes for the reviewer mapping:
- The app has no accounts, no ads and no analytics. Its only third-party SDK that talks to a
server is
expo-updates(EAS Update). - Its only network request is the app-update check to Expo's EAS Update service (see the note on "Device or other IDs" below). All activities, art and sounds are bundled and work offline.
- Drawings and the Balloon Pop high-score list are stored only in the app's private
on-device storage (Android: app-private
AsyncStorage; iOS: app sandbox) and never leave the device; this is not "collection" or "sharing."
3. Declared OS permissions (context, not "data collection")
These are install-time, non-sensitive permissions and do not, by themselves, collect user data. No sensitive runtime permissions (camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos, notifications) are requested.
| Permission (Android) | Why present | User-prompted? |
|---|---|---|
INTERNET | App-update checks (EAS Update); no other network use | No |
MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS | Sound effect / music playback (expo-audio) | No |
VIBRATE | Haptic feedback (expo-haptics) | No |
iOS requests no privacy-sensitive usage permissions (no camera/microphone/location/photos usage descriptions are included).
